The diplomatic spat that broke out between Qatar and several mostly Middle Eastern states in June sparked fears the global LNG market could be rocked, as Qatar supplies around 30% of the world’s LNG. The effect on Qatar’s LNG sector, however, has largely been contained. 

Two of the countries that severed ties with Qatar – the United Arab Emirates and Egypt – bought a combined 7% of Qatar’s LNG in 2016, representing a relatively small share of Qatari buyers. Markets were poised for some disruption nevertheless,...
