Kuwait, Pakistan drilling balances drop elsewhere in Middle East

The number of rigs targeting gas fell in Oman and Egypt in August, but rose in Kuwait and Pakistan

The number of rigs targeting gas in the Middle East stood at 98 in August, matching the previous month. The figure fell in Oman and Egypt, but rose in Kuwait and Pakistan. 

Kuwait is planning an upstream exploration push, and contractors have found partners for the first phase of the Jurassic gas project. Although the number of rigs targeting gas in Oman has fallen, it may rise again once the country signs four exploration contracts with IOCs in the next few weeks.
