Finland will have direct access to the European gas market from 2020 pending the successful construction of the long-planned Balticconnector pipeline.
Developers of the 7.2 million cubic metre per day project, which will run under the Gulf of Finland to Estonia, launched separate tenders for the manufacture and installation of the pipeline earlier this year. Companies have until the beginning of September to submit proposals, with construction set to begin in spring 2018.
