Italian power demand lifts African pipeline flows
Deliveries to Spain fell in Week 32 but volumes to Italy were up as high temperatures continued to feed demand for gas-fired power
15 August 2017

Deliveries of North African pipeline gas into Europe fell by 3.7% week on week in Week 32, to 391.6 million cubic metres. While deliveries to Spain ticked lower, volumes to Italy rose slightly as high temperatures continued to feed demand for gas-fired power generation. Italy imported more gas from Algeria and Libya, with piped deliveries from Russia increasing in parallel. Italy’s demand for gas has been exacerbated by low hydroelectric production.
