A lack of interest from foreign companies in the Klaipeda LNG terminal is thwarting Lithuania’s plans to become a regional gas hub. The facility has yet to receive a single application from a foreign client to use its capacity, Tadas Matulionis, director of terminal operator Klaipedos Nafta’s LNG department, told Interfax Natural Gas Daily.

Three domestic companies have booked capacity until September: state-controlled utility Lietuvos Energija and its gas unit Lietuvos Duju Tiekimas (LDT), and privately owned Lithuanian fertiliser producer Achema.
