ExxonMobil has signed two agreements with PetroVietnam and its subsidiaries to develop of the Blue Whale gas project offshore Vietnam, according to Reuters.
The project could fuel at least four power plants once it comes online, which is slated for 2023. The field lies 80 km off the central Vietnamese coast and is an important gas discovery for Vietnam.
Investment in the field and the power projects could total $10 billion.
