Gas-to-power projects to boost LNG demand

Gas-to-power projects in emerging economies could create substantial new LNG demand by 2020, according to a senior industry executive.

Speaking at the International Gas Summit in Nice on Tuesday, Paul Sullivan, senior vice president of global LNG and FLNG at EPC company WorleyParsons, said the combination of low LNG prices and the growing number of companies offering FSRUs will promote gas-to-power projects to grow in regions that currently rely on expensive oil-based generation.
