Calls for new NOC may derail Thai gas output

Calls for a new NOC and a revamped tax structure in Thailand are holding up crucial legislation needed to start the bidding process for ageing major gas blocks.

The Petroleum Review Committee failed to finalise draft amendments to Thailand’s proposed Petroleum Act and Petroleum Income Tax Act at its latest meeting on 21 November. This raises doubts about the timeline for the bills to be passed by the National Legislative Assembly on 21 December, analysts say.
