A study being carried out in the north of England has shown that converting a city gas network from methane to zero-carbon hydrogen would significantly reduce carbon dioxide emissions at a minimal cost to consumers.

The H21 project, part of Northern Gas Networks, is continuing work on a feasibility study to analyse how the distribution system of Leeds could be converted to run solely on hydrogen.
