Costs must come down for Chinese shale to shape up

Technological breakthroughs and gains in efficiency will drive down Chinese shale gas costs and maintain the industry’s momentum over the next few years, experts say.
The country’s shale output is starting to hit its stride. China’s shale gas developers had produced 6.29 billion cubic metres of the fuel this year by the end of September, putting the country on course to match last year’s official annual production target of 6.50 bcm.
