Shanghai centre eyes hotter role in winter supply

The owner of China’s would-be primary gas trading hub has asked the country’s three state gas giants and distribution firms to make use of its platform over the coming winter demand season to help mitigate acute shortages.

The request by the Shanghai Petroleum and Gas Exchange (SHPGX) came during a meeting with the gas sales arms of the NOCs and distributors in late September. Officials from the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) and National Energy Administration also attended the meeting.
