It is no secret that BP wants a taste of the famous Dead Cow – Argentina’s giant Vaca Muerta shale play. However, it now appears the supermajor is after a prime cut.

Sources have told Wildcat that Pan American Energy (PAE), BP’s Argentine subsidiary, is seeking a firmer foothold in a key block before drilling. "PAE wants to split up the [Neuquén-based] Aguada Pichana block and become operator of their portion," a source close to the company, who wished to remain anonymous, told Wildcat last week.
