A UK exit from the EU would curb the country’s influence on the regulation of EU energy markets and prevent it from accessing the benefits of the so-called Energy Union, but it is still unclear how ‘Brexit’ would affect the UK’s gas sector in practice.

If the UK leaves the EU, it will likely mean the country will drop out of the two regulatory bodies for the energy market – the Council of European Energy Regulators and the Agency for the Cooperation of Energy Regulators.
