
As its second Australian LNG project nears completion, ConocoPhillips is looking at options for a third using promising new discoveries. But while analysts see the potential to expand the group’s Darwin LNG plant, any new development will be slow in coming – particularly amid unpredictable oil prices and high Australian costs.
"We believe favourable results from exploration and appraisal activities across northern Australia may support an expansion of the Darwin LNG facility; however, it’s important to remember that local projects are competing against global projects," Todd Creeger, Conoco’s Australia-West president, told Interfax.
