China is ahead of India as the home of the largest NGV fleet in Asia, after Pakistan. While the penetration of gas in China’s transport sector has been relatively limited in terms of market scale, it is set to make strong inroads into the world’s second-largest economy. Gas used in transport accounted for about 8% – or 12 billion cubic metres – of total gas consumption in 2012, according to the International Energy Agency (IEA), leaving huge potential for growth.
