LNG imports by key Asian economies – China, India, Japan, South Korea and Taiwan – amounted to 218.26 mt in 2019, according to preliminary customs data. This was down by 0.7% on an annual basis. LNG imports in the region had previously not contracted since 2015, having grown by 13.2% in 2018 on an annual basis and 11.7% in 2017.
