China’s imports of pipeline gas were mostly steady last year, with volumes increasing by less than 1% compared with 2018, according to customs data. This was sharply lower growth than the 20.3% expansion seen in 2018 and the 8.8% rise in 2017. 

China imported 36.3 mt of pipeline gas over last year as a whole, with volumes in January hitting a high of 3.23 mt. The next highest months were February, on 3.21 mt, and August,...
