Chart showing Egypt gas production and consumption

On top of its rising domestic gas production, Egypt has been importing 5.7 million cubic metres per day from Israel since January.

In last week’s issue of Natural Gas Insight, our Middle East Specialist James Gavin analysed how Egypt has been mulling different approaches to market its surfeit of gas.

Currently, around 20 MMcm/d of gas is exported through the Idku LNG plant to be sold on the spot market and 4.2-5.7 MMcm/d is piped to Jordan.
