The United States rig count fell by almost 25% year on year in December 2019, according to the Energy Information Administration’s (EIA’s) latest Drilling Productivity Report. The number of rigs in operation dropped to 717 across the seven key regions considered. The steepest fall was seen in the Anadarko region, where the number of rigs fell by 66.7% year on year.
