European LNG imports saw an exponential increase of 88% in 2019, reaching 92.3 billion cubic metres, according to French transmission system operator GRTgaz’s annual report. France’s LNG terminals saw record-high regasification levels last year, with volumes reaching 18.95 bcm in 2019.

It is precisely in the regions where France’s LNG terminals are located that gas demand has increased the most. In the Bretagne area, home of the Montoir-de-Bretagne LNG terminal, gas demand increased by 10%...
