The key issue: A growing number of MEPs in the European Parliament are putting pressure on Brussels to reduce the number of fossil gas projects on the next EU priority list, set to be published in the fourth quarter of 2021.

Interfax analysis: The European Investment Bank has already announced it is phasing out lending to conventional gas projects, and it looks increasingly likely that EU grants will also be harder to obtain for gas developments in coming years.
