Since 1959, the European Investment Bank (EIB) has lent more than €200 billion to energy-related projects in Europe and beyond. Recently, it lent €1.5 billion to the 10 billion cubic metre per year Trans-Adriatic Pipeline, which is expected to bring gas from offshore Azerbaijan to Europe next year.
