Gas accounted for 45% of the growth in the world’s energy demand in 2018, with rising consumption in the United States and China together accounting for 70% of the increase, the International Energy Agency noted in its World Energy Outlook 2019 report.

The report said that China’s gas consumption increased by 33% in just two years, rising from 2017 to 2018. Global gas consumption increased by 4.6% year on year, it added.
