The key issue: The Balticconnector between Finland and Estonia is nearing completion, opening the door for the installation of another FSRU in the Baltic region.

Interfax analysis: The new gas interconnector being built between Finland and Estonia – set to be commissioned by the end of the year – will boost the prospects of a long-planned Estonian FSRU project that could supply both countries. Together with other infrastructure, this would help reduce the region’s dependence on Russian piped gas.
