Japan, the world’s largest LNG importer, saw its offtake in August fall by 19.5% on annual basis and 10.6% on monthly basis. The country imported 4.9 mt less LNG between January and August 2019 than it did during the same period a year earlier despite low prices on the spot market during the summer.
