The Yavuz drillship will begin a second drilling operation in Cypriot waters in the coming days, Turkish Energy Minister Fatih Donmez announced on 30 September. The move is set to stoke fresh tensions between Cyprus and Turkey. The vessel was deployed in northern Cypriot waters off the Karpas peninsula in July but returned to the Turkish port of Mersin for maintenance on 17 September.
