The key issue: Construction of the Interconnector Greece-Bulgaria and the Bulgarian leg of TurkStream are expected to begin in October, paving the way for Sofia’s plans for a Balkan gas hub possibly by end-2021.

Interfax analysis: Bulgaria’s ambitions to create a Balkan gas hub may finally take a step forward when the EU-sponsored Interconnector Greece-Bulgaria (IGB) and the Bulgarian leg of the Gazprom-owned TurkStream pipeline begin construction in Q4 2019.
