The key issue: The EU’s proposed taxonomy regulation includes clean gas as one of its sustainable electricity and heat generation sources.

Interfax analysis: Clean gas is the only fossil fuel to meet EU sustainability criteria for heat and power generation, according to a new taxonomy regulation proposed for the bloc. But while the carbon dioxide emission targets included are too strict for unabated gas-fired plants, the regulation may spur investment in carbon-capture solutions.
