The construction of the Polish section of the Poland-Slovakia interconnector kicked off on 6 September, taking Slovakia one step closer to receiving gas from the Polish and Lithuanian LNG terminals and possibly piped supplies from Norway. The new pipeline also opens the door for Hungary and other Central European states to receive regasified LNG.

The EU-backed pipeline will run from Strachocina in southeastern Poland, where a compressor station will be built, to Velke Kapusany in southern Slovakia, close to the Ukrainian border. The...
