Israel launches new licensing round

The Ministry of Energy will offer 19 blocks in five zones.

Israel’s Ministry of Energy has launched a second oil and gas exploration licensing round in its exclusive economic zone (EEZ) in the Eastern Mediterranean, the ministry said on Sunday.

Licences for 19 blocks in five zones will be offered, with each block covering up to 40,000 hectares and each zone covering up to 160,000 hectares. The zones are in the southern part of Israel’s EEZ, an area where some licences have already been issued but which has seen limited exploration activity.
