Gas-focused drilling dropped slightly in Latin America in August, according to Baker Hughes data. Just 16 wells were active in the region during the month, one fewer than in July. Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Trinidad & Tobago, Venezuela and Guyana were all drilling for gas in August. The Latin American rig count is lower than at the same time a year ago and much lower than two years ago, when there were 22 rigs drilling for gas in the region.
