Iraq’s oil ministry is frustrated by the lack of progress by IOCs on two major gas field developments, and it is hoping domestic firms will do a better job. 

The ministry this week ordered several state-run companies to take over development of the Mansuriya gas field. It took similar steps at the end of 2017 for the Nasiriya oil and gas field. The moves are a response to Iraq’s worsening gas supply crisis, which is causing electricity blackouts.
