Experts are divided on the prospects for private investment in Mexico’s energy sector if leftist candidate Andrés Manuel López Obrador wins in the country’s general election – as expected – on 1 July. 

The oil and gas industry is jittery about a López Obrador government because on the campaign trail he pledged to freeze private investment in exploration and production.
