Progress on the proposed Turkish Stream pipeline may remain stalled this summer despite improving relations between Ankara and Moscow. The project still needs to clear significant hurdles, such as how Gazprom can get its gas further into Europe.

Turkey’s Economy Minister Nihat Zeybekci said on the sidelines of the G20 trade ministers’ summit in Shanghai last week that there were no obstacles to the suspended project moving forward. His comments followed negotiations with Russian First Deputy Economic Development Minister Alexei Likhachyov.
