Below-average temperatures in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast regions of the United States in late January led electricity transmission system operators such as PJM to issue warnings to power producers. Utilities were asked to check power plant equipment and fuel supplies to ensure there were no shortages across grids. However, no major supply issues were reported with temperatures forecast to recover in the first week of February.
