Chinese power demand is forecast to rise by 5.5% on an annual basis this year, according to the government’s latest outlook. This follows growth of 6.6% last year, which saw steady expansion in power consumption from the industrial and residential sectors. Consumption in the residential sector increasing by 7.8% in 2017 compared with 2016. Continued steady increases are expected this year, and growth could be boosted further if weather-related consumption is especially high.
