The use of renewables in China’s power mix is continuing to grow, although the pace of new solar installations in the country is slowing.

Installed solar capacity in China rose to 130 GW in 2017, up by 54 GW compared with 2016. The pace of this rapid expansion exceeded the growth seen in previous years – which amounted to 34 GW in 2016 and 17 GW in 2015 – and boosted solar capacity beyond the government’s target.
