Northeast Asian LNG import prices have seen strong gains.
The average price Japan paid for its LNG imports rose to $9.4/MMBtu in March, up by 23% on an annual basis. This is the strongest year-on-year increase in the average price paid by the country since August last year. Although spot LNG prices eased as winter ended, pre-summer gains are already being seen. The oil-indexed contract prices that dominate flows into the country have also seen further gains.
