Demand for LNG in Latin America is poised to decline sharply on an annual basis in 2019.

Several factors will drag down the region’s LNG consumption in 2019, starting with forecasts for mild weather in Q1, which is already reducing the need for LNG in Brazil and Mexico. A mild start to the summer in Brazil meant the country imported no cargoes in December 2018 compared with three in December 2017. Brazil has two FSRUs, but they are severely underutilised.
