Americas Production

September 2018

Growth in US gas production could moderate in 2019 because of excessive reliance on tight oil.

Rising trade tensions between the US and China have the potential to limit gains in US oil production, which will weigh on the country’s gas output. In September, the Energy Information Administration once again revised down its growth forecast for US oil production. It now expects the US to produce 11.5 million barrels per day (MMb/d) of crude in 2019, lower than its previous forecast of 11.7 MMb/d.
