The US made its largest-ever gas stock drawdowns in January, exacerbating concerns over the country’s inventories.

The country made a net gas withdrawal of 10.16 bcm in the week ending 5 January – the largest net drawdown for a single week since the Energy Information Administration started reporting storage figures in 1993. Consequently, the US had 78.31 bcm of gas stocks at the end of the week, which was down by 13% year on year and 12.1% below the five-year average.
