Brazil, Argentina and Trinidad will drive growth in Latin America’s gas production in 2018.

Latin America’s gas output is set to decline for the third consecutive year in 2017, largely as a result of falling production in Mexico. However, the trend is expected to change in 2018 as upstream activity gathers pace in Brazil, Argentina and Trinidad. Government reforms to Mexico’s energy sector are unlikely to see output rising on an annual basis before 2019 (see Mexico prepares for an upstream revolution, 24 November 2017).
