Americas Consumption

April 2017

The US risks a year-on-year decline in gas demand in 2017 as a result of weak consumption from the residential, commercial and power sectors.

Mild weather in the US in January and February reduced gas demand from the residential and commercial sectors. Below-average temperatures could also hit gas-to-power demand during the summer. Preliminary weather forecasts suggest the Total Degree Days figure in the US will average 319F during the summer (June-August) compared with 350F last summer.
