Weather-related gas demand in Latin America is expected to disappoint in 2017, limiting the region’s overall gas consumption.

Countries such as Brazil and Argentina are currently in the shoulder months following a mild summer. Preliminary forecasts suggest the forthcoming winter will also be mild, which will dampen the region’s gas demand as well as its need to import LNG. There is an 80% chance of above-average temperatures in Brazil during the winter (June-August), whereas Argentina has a 35% chance of warmer temperatures over the period.
