The mining of shale gas causes less damage to the environment than extracting CBM, Scott Tinker, a geology expert from the University of Texas, said at a conference in Brisbane on Tuesday, according to The Australian. Tinker said that while shale gas mining requires more hydraulic fracturing (‘fracking’) than CBM drilling does, fracking technology is improving quickly.
