Shandong Energy Xinwen Group, a coal producer owned by the Shandong provincial government, is to start test production at an LNG plant in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region by the end of next month, the Shandong government announced on Monday.

Shandong Energy has spent approximately RMB 429 million ($67.13 million) to build the facility in the Ordos basin, which will use coke-oven gas from a neighbouring chemical plant to produce 100,000 tons of LNG per year once operational. Coke producing plants are most often associated with...
