Europe’s nascent bunkering market took another step forward on Tuesday as the first large-scale LNG-powered ferry journey took place in Finland, operator Viking Line confirmed to Interfax.

Europe’s nascent bunkering market took another step forward on Tuesday as the first large-scale LNG-powered ferry journey took place in Finland, operator Viking Line confirmed to Interfax.

The $320 million Viking Grace made its maiden voyage having been delivered to Viking Line at the port of Turku last week. On its first journey, the Viking Grace was fuelled by LNG trucks rather than a bunker barge – which, once it arrives, will be the main mode of refuelling.
