Reaching quick agreements on Chevron’s Indonesia Deepwater Development (IDD) and Inpex’s Abadi LNG scheme will be top priorities for Jakarta in Q1 2019.

But the IOCs will remain wary of signing deals unless the government softens its stance towards improving fiscal terms for the much-needed mega-projects.

Nevertheless, the appointment of Dwi Soetjipto as the new chairman of Indonesian upstream regulator SKKMigas last month could mark a turning point for the archipelago’s oil and gas sector.
