Shell has signed charter contracts for six LNG carriers with Sovcomflot and TMS Cardiff Gas, according to Seatrade Maritime News.

TMS Cardiff has placed orders for four newbuild LNG carriers with South Korean shipbuilders Samsung Heavy Industries and Hyundai Heavy Industries.

They will have a capacity of 174,000 cubic metres and are set to be delivered in 2020 and 2021.

They will be powered by the XDF propulsion system and join Shell’s time-chartered fleet.

Sovcomflot will provide two newbuild vessels.
