The Council of the EU and the European Parliament have reached a provisional agreement for new carbon dioxide limits for passenger cars and light vans for 2030, it was announced on Monday.
According to the preliminary agreement, CO2 emissions from new cars will have to be 37.5% lower than their 2021 levels by 2030 while emissions from new vans will have to be 31% lower.
The targets – which have yet to be formally adopted – are more ambitious than the 35% reduction target for new cars...
